A celebration of traditional and modern crafts, Kareena Kapoor Khan graced a recent awards ceremony, looking radiant in a custom mulberry silk satin saree featuring a real gold zari laffa border and chintz motifs designed by Kshipra Singh Jadon.

The heirloom saree in a rich shade of carmine red exuded grace and elegance, as Kareena paired the six yards of sheer elegance with a backless blouse styled by celebrity stylist Lakshmi Lehr. The halter neck blouse in the matching colour looked bold and sexy and complemented the traditional saree draped on Bollywood’s favourite diva.

Kareena, known for her love for Indian silhouettes, embraced the statement piece and looked like royalty on the red carpet. Elated to see Kareena drape one of her heirloom pieces, Kshipra Singh Jadon, founder of label Jadon, says, “It pleases the child in me to see Kareena [ Kapoor Khan] wear something that I made. I used to cut classes to see Kareena’s movies and was always influenced by her style. So, it feels great to finally see her styled in something designed by me.”

Draped to perfection, the highlight of Kareena’s saree was the unique threadwork and embellishments used to enhance this exquisite piece. Decoding the intricate motifs which were purely hand beaded, Kshipra adds, “We’ve used pitta and zardozi with our signature 3D textures using custom shaded sequin, French knot techniques and mukaish.”

The hand-crafted motifs took her 124 hours to make and added a sparkling edge to the overall heirloom saree. Each element created for this saree set the tone and was the perfect amalgamation of Indian crafts and glamour.

Kareena completed her red carpet look with a simple hairstyle featuring a neat bun and minimal dangling earrings. Making the saree a hero, this heroine definitely won hearts on the red carpet and on stage with her performance.

The awards ceremony was also attended by Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Tripti Dimri, Shefali Shah, Ayushmann Khurrana, Esha Gupta, Mrunal Thakur, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Vikrant Massey, Saiyami Kher, Harnaaz Sandhu, Fardeen Khan, Bhagyashree, Rajkummar Rao, Eli Avram, Nargis Fakhri, and Tejasswi Prakash.
