EPFO Extends Deadline For Employers To Upload Wage Details For Higher Pension; All You Need To Know
The deadline for uploading applicant pensioners' or members' wage details was earlier extended, per requests from employers' and employees' associations.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the deadline for employers to upload salary details of employees opting for higher pensions in its database till May 31. This is the fifth time that the procedure has been extended since it was started on November 4, 2022, to carry out the Supreme Court’s decision. The Union Labour Ministry said in a release that Bhupender Yadav, the Labour Minister, made the decision.

A media portal was informed by a senior EPFO officer that the delay would not affect the distribution of increased pension benefits. According to the official, wherever the retired subscribers submitted the demand amount determined by the EPFO based on their increased salary, the disbursement had already begun.

Beginning on February 26, last year and running through May 3, the EPFO accepted online applications for the validation of options and joint options for pensions based on increased earnings. The deadline was moved to June 26, 2023, and then an additional 15 days were added to it to accommodate any hardship that the qualified members and pensioners could have experienced. The Ministry stated, “Until July 11, 2023, approximately 17.49 lakh applications for validation of option / joint options have been received from pensioners/members.” It also stated that over 3.6 lakh joint options were still awaiting processing by the employers.

The deadline for uploading applicant pensioners’ or members’ wage details has been extended, per requests from employers’ and employees’ associations. An extension of three months was granted to companies to upload salary information, among other things, online by September 30, 2023, at the latest. The Ministry justified the decision to grant yet another extension by stating, “This time was further extended till December 31, 2023, because many representations were received from employees’ and employers’ associations wherein requests were made to extend further time period for uploading wage details of applicant pensioners/members.”
